Wedding Wednesday: Wedding Collection from Penneys

I hope you are all wrapped up on this very cold and snowy Wedding Wednesday.  Last week I was very lucky to be invited to a showcase for the wedding collection from Penneys.  The showcase was so pretty and took place in a gorgeous venue complete with beautiful decor.  There were lots of lovely items on show to cover all aspects of a wedding. Some of the items are in shops now and some will be arriving in March and more in May.

My favourite items from the showcase have to be the travel bag and flip flops.  The flip flops are for both brides and bridesmaids so will be great for getting ready on the morning of the wedding or for the evening to relieve sore feet.  I can’t wait to get my hands on them.

The bag is perfect for packing if you are staying away the night before the wedding or even for a hen.  This is definitely something I will be purchasing.

Another item which really caught my eye is the large sun hat.  It doesn’t really serve much purpose for me as I’m not going to a beach but I want it anyway.

A firm favourite for many people seems to be the pyjamas.  These once again are for both a bride and bridesmaid and they also come in a nightdress.  These are currently in shops and are priced at €5 for the pyjamas and €8 for the nightdress.  I’m not normally one for “popular” … Read the rest

Wedding Wednesday: Mitchum Deodorant

For today’s Wedding Wednesday installment I’m talking about deodorant. Mitchum very kindly sent me a selection of their products recently and I have been trying them out since I received them.  I was very excited to try these products as I’m always searching for a deodorant that works for me.

Deodorant may not seem that interesting to many people but to me it is something that I’m always on the look-out for.  I’m incredibly sensitive to heat. This means that I’m always warm.  My skin is sometimes hot to touch and people are often quite shocked by it.  Feeling anxious or nervous adds to feeling hot and when that happens I start to feel sweaty.   Even thinking about the wedding brings on panic over starting to flush and sweat so I really needed to feel confident in having a deodorant that works for me.

I’d read great things about Mitchum on various forums and I had high hopes for it.  I was not disappointed.  I received four deodorants, two roll ons and two sticks.  I received an unscented and pure fresh scented version of each. Both the roll on and stick offer 48 hour protection and they really did work.  I tried the deodorant over the recent very hot weather and I felt so incredibly comfortable.  There was no horrible sweaty feeling and I was completely dry for the day.  The deodorants are also quick drying so there is no waiting around for ages to get dressed and they didn’t … Read the rest

Wedding Wednesday: Halloween Costume

Although we are now on the countdown to Christmas, this week’s Wedding Wednesday is going to take a look back on Halloween.  Halloween is my favourite time of year; I absolutely love it.  This year for Halloween we dressed up as Corpse Bride and Victor and had our engagement party.  This evening I’m going to tell you how I created the look and costume.

Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride (Emily) is quite blue.  She has blue skin and blue hues to her dress and accessories.  I had originally planned on being blue but I had some skin allergies that week and instead opted to be very pale with blue accents.  On my eyes I used a lot of blue and navy.  I added white on my waterline and under the lashes to create a larger eye and lined the area with blue.  I placed lashes on this new line as well as my top lash.  All of the shadows were from Blank Canvas Cosmetics.  My eyebrows were exaggerated and made me look sad.  I used dark blue for my contour.  My lips were Smokin’ Hot Pink from Wet n Wild.  I added blues in random spots over my neck and chest.

I bought my wig on eBay for €6.  It was a cosplay one so it was quite comfortable and not at all itchy.  I bought the wedding dress on AliExpress for just under €40.  I was a bit disappointed when it arrived because the size was terrible on me.  I … Read the rest

Wedding Wednesday: Bridal by Nikki Kavanagh

My Wedding Wednesday posts have dramatically slowed down over the last few weeks as I have been ridiculously busy.  Anyway, today I wanted to talk to you about a gorgeous bridal shop.  A while ago I was invited to the launch of Bridal by Nikki Kavanagh in Ratoath.  My bridesmaid/cousin/partner in crime and I arrived to a very glitzy affair with champagne, a red carpet, chocolate strawberries, music and an abundance of food and met some of the lovely people involved in the shop.

We were given the full tour of what I can only describe as a one stop shop for weddings.  The shop is comprised of the actual dress part where there is a range of styles to choose from as well as accessories, belts, veils etc.  It was a sea of pretty lace and tulle.  I fell in love with a gorgeous mermaid lace gown. It was fabulous.  Dresses are from Pronovias, MGNY, Callista and more.

There are pretty cabinets in the alcoves of the room stocked full of sparkly treasures.

There was also a selection of bridesmaid dresses, again in plenty of styles and indeed colours.  There was definitely a dress for every taste. Dresses are primarily from the Dessy Group and I had my eye on one.

The dress room opens to a beauty suite that offers waxing, facials, tanning etc.  This is a great place for improving one’s skincare in the lead up to the big day.  The salon area is followed by a … Read the rest

Wedding Wednesday: Wedding Shoes

For the next installment of Wedding Wednesday I’m talking about wedding shoes. Shoes don’t have to be white or ivory; (of course they can if you want them to be) they can be as bonkers and as personalised as you want.

I have recently started decoupaging shoes and I’m going to show you how to make your own shoes or indeed shoes for your bridesmaids.  Decoupage is basically small bits of paper or tissue paper stuck to another surface as a collage.  There are a couple of ways of doing it. I have made three pairs so far: Disney Princesses, Beauty and the Beast and Batman.  The princesses and Batman were made out of wrapping paper and the Beauty and the Beast were made out of tissue paper with printed designs.  These were a lot more work so for today I’ll show you the wrapping paper method.

The Batman shoes were my most recent creation so I’ll use them as my example.  Firstly find shoes that are comfortable and that you like.  They need to have a smooth surface so that the glue will stick. You can use any colour or style as they will be completely covered.  I bought a few pairs of shoes on clearance in Penneys for €5 and used them for all of my decoupage designs.

You will need:

  • wrapping paper
  • shoes
  • scissors
  • pva glue
  • Mod Podge
  • some paint brushes
  • a paper cup
  • hair dryer
  • glitter (optional)

  1. Cut out the shapes from wrapping paper that you
