Skin Logic Facial

The lovely people of Skin Logic were kind enough to send me a voucher for a facial using their products. On Saturday I set off to Ealu Spa in Naas to indulge in their lovely treat. I should give some background to my current skin situation before moving on. At the moment I have an outbreak on my chin. I have normal to dry skin but on occasion I get spots on my chin. I’m currently out of work as I have an injury which has been causing a little bit of stress, this probably triggered my spots. I’m not getting much sleep and as a result my skin is looking a little tired and dull.

On Saturday I met Sinead and she showed to me to a beautiful treatment room. I really liked that the salon offered a towel dress that could be worn. Sinead and I discussed my skin situation and she said that she would use different products on my chin to try and clear the breakout. She would then move to the rest of my face and work on brightening and hydrating. She informed me that the Skin Logic products are very active so to let her know if there was any irritation to my sensitive skin. I’m pleased to say there was absolutely no irritation and I would be very happy to use these products again as they did not trigger my sensitivity. Sinead used a variety of potions on my skin. To begin with … Read the rest

Caroline’s Beauty

Last Thursday I turned up on the doorstep of Caroline’s Beauty in Rush like a woman deranged.  I didn’t have an appointment and I was looking for some last minute assistance.  I have talons and I can’t face cutting them.  I had chipped a few nails and had glued them back together with teabags.  I should state that as bonkers as this sounds it normally does work but I had made a mess of it that particular day.  I had a wedding to go to the next morning and my hands were, quite frankly, disturbing looking.  Caroline was so kind to me and although she was closing at 8 and booked up until then she told me I could come back at 8.15 and she’d sort them out for me.  This was really generous of her.

I’d never had my nails done before so I was very interested to know all about the various tools that she had.   I was also a bit nervous because apart from seeming like a complete idiot with teabags glued to my nails, I don’t really like people “at” me so that’s why I tend to paint my nails myself.  I didn’t need to worry at all because Caroline was lovely and chatted away with me.  The treatment room was lovely and comfy and there was a general relaxed atmosphere.

She fixed up my teabag / glue situation and painted my nails a lovely shade of red.  We quickly got talking about my favourite topic … Read the rest

Chameleon Salon

I absolutely hate getting my hair cut.  I have an emotional connection with every strand.  I need to have it long.  I was almost sitting on it but part of me still thought that it wasn’t long enough.  Apart from loving long hair, I love big hair.  The more volume the better.  Unfortunately my long locks were becoming heavier by the day and as a result creating volume on top was impossible.  It was time to get the chop and by chop I mean cut off as little as possible.

I last got my hair cut in February and it was horrible.  I had tears in my eyes as I left the hairdresser, but of course, I pretended I liked it and politely said thank you.  When I got back to my car, I rang my boyfriend, roared down the phone and cursed the hairdresser.  I like length but I also like layers.  My layers looked no different and as a result my hair was still flat.  I could have almost coped with this if it wasn’t for the disaster of a fringe I was left with.  I have an odd shaped face so I like my fringe thick and around cheek length.Read the rest

Oceana Spa: Facial Review

Recently my skin has been in a terrible state.  I feel that I have aged about a decade.  I’m starting to notice wrinkles and I have terrible dark circles under my eyes.  On top of this, I also have large ugly volcanic red spots around my chin.  They never appear to come to the surface so I that I might be able to try get rid of them.  Instead they grow and spread under my skin and take over my face.  As a teenager I never really had spots so to get them now is not the most desirable thing in the world.  Feeling old and spotty, I decided to look to the internet for help.  Whilst on Twitter, I noticed a post from Oceana Spa stating that consuming aloe vera slows down the aging process.  I contacted Oceana Spa and asked a couple of questions about this.  Linda couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful and asked me about my skin worries.  She very kindly offered me a visit to Oceana Spa in Portmarnock so that I could have a skin analysis.  Of course I was only too happy to go.

My appointment was with Hannah.  Upon entering the spa, I noticed how Read the rest

Best of Beauty Challenge: Beauty Treatments

It is the second last week of the Beauty Blogger challenge organised by Samantha Johnston from All the Buzz.  I can’t believe how fast the weeks have gone by and I’m really going to miss these challenges when they are over.  This week our topic is Best of Beauty Treatments.  This is without doubt the hardest topic for me.  I’m not one for going for beauty treatments.  I’ve never had my nails done and I just about manage to get my hair cut once or twice a year.  For a beauty blogger, I’m terrible for actually venturing out to seek a treatment.  The only treatment I regularly avail of is a wax.

I’m allergic to just about anything you can think of.  I am a disaster.  A couple of years ago, I had the worst reaction to wax imaginable.  I went for a routine patch test and returned 24 hours later to have my legs waxed.  I didn’t find the procedure too painful and went on my way afterwards.  The next day my legs were very hot and felt like they were burning.  I thought that this was just some sensitivity.  Two days later, my legs were swollen, burnt and seeping a horrible gooey substance.  I could barely walk, the pain was so bad.  I was like that for about a week before I returned to the salon.  The owner stated that she had never seen a reaction like mine.  She was very generous and paid for the medication which … Read the rest
