Kat Von D Beauty

I absolutely adore Kat Von D and I have done since her Miami Ink days that eventually lead to the start of LA Ink.  I loved the stories, the art and most of all Kat’s personality.  For years I have wanted to try Kat Von D’s make-up line and I was so excited when Debenhams announced its arrival.  I have tried a couple of products from the line so here are my thoughts:

Shade and Light Palette (€46)

The palette consists of three quads of neutral, warm and cool shadows.  A range of looks can be created with these shades from barely there natural make-up to a full on smokey eye.  I use a primer with these shadows.  My favourite combination of shadows is Lucius on the lid, Samuel over my crease, Solas to define my outer corners and Liberatus on the inner corner of my eye and across my brow bone.  The shadows are long lasting and well pigmented.  I’d 100% buy this pallete again.

Shade and Light Palette Glimmer (€47)

I had a voucher and decided to purchase this palette when it was released in September or October.  I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it as it is so pretty.  The colours are beautiful and like the original palette, they are well pigmented and long lasting.  Quartz is my  favourite shade.  There is a mixture of shimmer, glitter and matte shadows.  I think the Glimmer palette would make a great Christmas gift.

Tattoo Liner (€20)

ELF Cosmetics

I wanted to try ELF for a while so when I saw that it had landed in Superdrug I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it.  ELF is a cruelty free budget brand which is always appealing to me.  I tried four different products so here are my thoughts on them.

Illuminating Palette

This palette contains four highlighter shades.  They are not overly shimmery and are well pigmented and long lasting.  I really like the soft finish they provide.  Personally I only use the top two shades as the bottom powders are too dark for me.  My favourite is the first white /  silver highlighter and I have been using this most days.  It is very pretty and can be used to create a soft and pretty glow to the cheekbones or can be used under the brows or across the eyelids for a beautiful finish.  I would certainly buy this product again.

Under the Eye Concealer

The concealer consists of two products, a concealer and a highlighter.  Both have an individual applicator.  When I bought this product both ends were completely empty despite the concealer being sealed.  I was able to return it for a new one.  Whilst I’m very happy with the concealer, there doesn’t seem to be a lot of product in the tubes, particularly on the highlighter side.  The concealer is great for covering my dark circles and making me look more awake.  The highlighter is fine for patting on over the concealer but for … Read the rest

Tan Thursday (For Pale Girls)

This is my very first Tan Thursday post as I’m not really part of the target audience for tan.  Although some people look at me as if I’m a corpse, I am pale and proud.  It doesn’t bother me in the slightest to be pale and generally speaking I have absolutely no interest in tan. Having said all of that there are times when I could do with a bit of something on my legs.  I don’t feel the cold at all so my legs are out for most of the year.  Whilst they are always pale, the recent addition of my two dogs has them scratched, battered and bruised.  I have been looking at ways of camouflaging my legs and taking away some of the ghost look without turning them orange.  I also need something that doesn’t look too mad as I don’t  tan the rest of my body.

If you are pale and looking for a teeny bit of colour on your milky white legs then this post is for you.  I’m talking about quality, easy to use and affordable tans.

First up is Lovely Legs from Cocoa Brown.  The spray is a similar idea to that of Sally Hansen.  Legs look airbrushed and the product really lasts.  The main difference to Sally Hansen is that the tan does not wash off in the rain and it doesn’t transfer at all.  For those reasons I really like it. I also find that it physically lasts for ages as … Read the rest

Wet n Wild’s New Collection

I think it is perfectly obvious by now that I have a serious love for Wet n Wild.  The products are affordable, colourful, durable and cruelty free.  There is so much to choose from and for the most part I’ve always been happy with what I have tried.

A few weeks ago I attended the launch of the new collection in Tropical Popical.  I’d never actually been to Tropical Popical so that in itself was a delight.  The place looks amazing.  It is impossible not to feel cheery in it.

I want to talk to you about a couple of my favourite items from the newbies.  The first thing is the Fine liner.  This is almost like a felt marker.  The colour and texture are amazing.  It gives a similar look to a gel liner.  It lasts all day and will create a perfect winged look.

I have continuously written about their shadows and palettes and the Bare and Beautiful is no different.  There are five eyeshadows.  I particularly like the combination of the base and browbone shades.

The contour duo stick has been a favourite of mine over the last few weeks.  This is the perfect tool for creating a sculpted look.  I really like it because the darker colour suits my pale skin and the highlighter is light enough to still be visible with my skin tone.  It blends really well so you won’t be left with any harsh tiger stripes.  It is a great buy.

PS Pro Range

There is no denying that Penneys can be likened to Aladdin’s cave.  There are treasures aplenty to be found.  Whether it is tights, Disney pjs, a new pair of shoes or a duvet cover Penneys has you covered.  Recently there has been a lot of buzz around the PS beauty products.  There are brushes, nail varnishes, eye masks, make-up storage and more to choose from.  This week the much awaited PS Pro range hit the shelves and then flew off them at a ridiculously fast pace.  The range consists of lip products, primers, liners, foundation, concealer palettes, and loose powder.  I managed to get my hands on a few goodies.

PS Pro

I normally wait more than a few days before posting about any products that I have tried as I want to thoroughly put them through their paces and use them for a fair period before posting my thoughts.  As the PS Pro range is limited edition and is flying off the shelves, I’m sharing my thoughts a little earlier than usual.

Lip Scrub – €3.50

I’m obsessed with the lip scrub and if there is one left in my local Penneys I will pick up another one.  This is essentially an exfoliator for the lips.  It has a nice sugary smell (and taste) and removes the dead flakey bits that none of us want hanging around.  It also has almond oil so provides some nourishment and will leave your mouth soft and a little glossy.  I have used this every … Read the rest
