A Quick Guide to Some Nima Brushes

Since starting blogging I have tried to be an advocate of Irish businesses.  There are so many great ones to choose from.  This week I want to focus on Nima Brush.  Regular readers will be familiar with Nima as I have mentioned the brushes on a number of occasions.  Today I’m discussing some of the Nima brushes I regularly use.

I have previously posted a full review about the five piece eye set which you can read here.  I also have the second version of these brushes which was recently released.  Each set is fantastic and a must for eye make-up.  I sometimes get emails asking for a recommendation of an eye brush set and I always recommend these.  They also come in handy little clear packs, as do all the brushes.  These are great for throwing them in your bag or travelling.  The new set contains:

  • Large shader: great for applying shadow all over the eye.  I use it for my base.
  • Small shader: used for under my bottom lashes or along the top of my lids for a smoky look.
  • Crease blender: great for applying shadow to the crease to add definition to the eye.  It can also be used on the outer corner of the eyes.
  • Eye liner brush:  the great thing about this brush is the shape.  It is bent so it makes applying gel liner so much easier.
  • Brow brush: this will give you perfectly defined brows.  It can also be used a liner

E39 from Blank Canvas Cosmetics

This week in my brush appreciation feature I’m discussing the E39 from Blank Canvas Cosmetics.  Applying gel liner can be a daunting task for even the most seasoned professional.  Some days can be perfect and some can be a disaster.  I’m a firm believer that gel liner can sense fear!  The task is made a whole lot easier, however, with a good brush and the E39 is your only man for the job.

Flatter arrow shaped brushes are also great for applying liner but the bend in this brush means it can be applied with more ease.  It is easier to draw along the lash with the gel and there is less margin for error.  It also means that the liner gets as close to the lash line as possible.  Using the brush allows for a smoother finish and there is less of a chance of ending up with bumpy ridged liner.  I can’t recommend it enough.  I think it is a great buy but particularly for those not overly confident with gel liner or for beginners.

The E39 is made of synthetic fibres.  It costs €7.99 and can be bought from www.blankcanvascosmetics.com.… Read the rest

March Favourites

March seems to have gone by so quickly and I can’t believe it is now time for another post about my monthly favourites.
March started off with a trip to the Body Shop on Grafton Street for the launch of their Green Tea range. As a fan of drinking green tea all day I was delighted to sample their new products. It was a great event and their new products are lovely. My particular favourite is the exfoliator. It leaves my skin cleansed, soft and feeling fresh.

On the 8th, I like thousands of others attended the Irish Beauty Show in the RDS. I bought plenty of items but my favourite of them were two Blank Canvas Cosmetics brushes I didn’t actually have. The first is the F16 is a tapered contour brush. It is my new favourite contour brush as its shape gives the perfect sculpted cheek bones. The F16 is suitable with powder products. The F28 is a highlighter brush and came highly recommended by Emma Sheehan. I hadn’t tried it before but I have to say I absolutely love it now. As it is a smaller brush it highlights with precision and gives a lovely finish to the skin. It too is suitable with powder products.

I also bought two brushes from Nima Brush, the Nichola and the Debs. I’m always happy with the quality of any brushes I have bought from Nima. They are fantastic. Both are eye blender brushes. The Nichola is great for adding … Read the rest

Brush Appreciation: F03 Foundation Brush from Blank Canvas Cosmetics

I am absolutely obsessed with my make-up brushes. I love them. I got my first MAC set about 9 years ago and I still have the original box they came in. I treasure my brushes and with that in mind I have decided to pay homage to the brushes in my life and run a series on brush appreciation.

I thought long and hard about my first brush to feature but I have come to a decision. This week’s brush is the F03 from Blank Canvas Cosmetics. I chose this brush because it has become my new favourite foundation brush and I love it. I have two of these for personal use and a few in my make-up kit as well.

The F03 is a duo-fibre brush and has the softest bristles imaginable. It seamlessly blends foundation into the skin and gives a flawless and airbrushed finish. This brush works amazingly well with all foundations but I especially love it with YSL’s Fusion Ink foundation as the combination of the two products feels like rubbing velvet on my face.

The brush can also be used for liquid highlighters and blushers.

It is easy to wash, can be used dry or wet and is made from synthetic fibres. It costs €13.99 and can be purchased from www.blankcanvascosmetics.com.

I have a lot of love for this brush.… Read the rest

January Favourites

January seems like such a long month and I seem to have accumulated so many new products and items. This is largely due to the sales but January also saw a couple of amazing events that I attended. I have been really busy with the new house and moving so I’m a little behind in my blogging. As a result this favourites post will have a lot in it. I will post separate blogs with full reviews of some of these products in the coming weeks.

Pixy is the first brand on my list. During the sales I bought a couple of items (some for me and some for my blog bestie Emma from Mastering your Makeup). I fell particularly in love with two items. I’m a massive fan of both coconut and beeswax so having the two combined in a lip balm is perfect for me. The balm is great and soothes chapped and sore winter lips. The muscle salts are fantastic. I have an old shoulder injury which is currently rearing its ugly head and the salts help massively with easing it. They are a great buy.

Staying with lips for a moment, I bought the limited edition The Kiss lip scrub from Lush. It smells and tastes lovely and will exfoliate any dryness away. It contains hundreds and thousands. I have to say I’m not a fan of them but there are only a few and they don’t impact the scrub. I’m really pleased with the product.… Read the rest
